Fallout is at Fallout at @philipblood.bsky.social, @dustinducane.bsky.social and the other platform @HistorianBlood (Dustin’s account is mostly inactive).

Philip’s guest is James Jefferies.

James completed his MA in History at Essex and his dissertation was entitled "Bomber Command in the Battle of Britain: How Britain revered and then reviled the few who flew bombers". He is fascinated by historical memory and public history and is a regular contributor to the History Indoors project. James is currently working as a historical consultant for The Logistics of the Battle of Britain by Real Engineering and Junto Media, which will be released at the end of 2021. James has also appeared on Paul Woodadge s WW2 TV as a guest historian talking about the role and memory of Bomber Command in the Battle of Britain.

James is currently a PhD student at the University of Essex studying the cultural memory of First World War aerial warfare from 1918 to 2018, looking at the inter-war years of peace and its 'pioneers' and air races, the memory and allure of 'the flyer' during the Second World War, and at the influence of the Cold War nuclear threat and mass commercialisation of air travel. James is also studying the cultural reflections of the war in the air through its portrayal in public history such as in films, literature, and video games. [VIA IWM]
