Sumlenny (Russian via Ukraine) has serious issues with recognizing racial issues in Russia and Ukraine. This is the guy who proclaimed L’viv the epitome of Ukrainness. L’viv, where my grandmother was born in Lwów, was Polish-Lithuanian for most of its history. In 1939 80% of the city was Polish or Jewish. 20% were Ukrainian. Guess what happened? The Germans and UPA killed the Jews and the Russians (and UPA) chased the Poles out.

I try not to be too hard on Sumlenny but he doesn’t make things easy by posting stupid shit like it’s great for Russians to be pogroming Jews as the first sign of regime change. The video is two months old but he really shouldn’t be cheerleading pogroms.

The collapse of a Russian regime usually ends with a lot of Jew killing and other genocide, so I wouldn’t be so enthusiastic about Dagestan pogroms.

Pogroming Jews is not some valiant act of resistance to the regime, it’s diverting anger against the regime to an external enemy. Because Russia is a fascist state. Don’t applaud the idiots playing into the hands of Putin.

I am still shocked at the idiots who think a pogrom in Dagestan is something to cheer as a sign of Russia’s ‘collapse’. The Russian Civil War was not a good time for Jews BTW. Especially in Ukraine.1

Any collapse in Russian central authority will probably include a lot of genocide, including of Jews. That doesn’t mean Putin should be supported, strengthened or encouraged. But be aware of what you wish for. That also means don’t support Putin because you think otherwise all the Jews in Russia will be killed. Because Putin lets loose his citizens to pogrom Jews, Dagestanis and Czechens and Ukrainians strategically.

As for the pogrom:

On a connected note, I updated this older piece to talk about Russian emigres seeking inspiration from Lenin. They actually did that. Lenin inspires them. Russia might be the most anti-semitic country in the world that isn’t Islamic.
