I have never been as pessimistic about Ukraine as this week.
Sorry, there's just nothing I can point to that is optimistic.
Ukraine is bloody, bruised and betrayed.
Betrayed by:
1) European complacency as summed up by the Rheinmetall scumbag saying: even if it takes a bit longer.
Well, it's too late now.
2) American democracy, Biden, Harris, Garland and humanity's greatest idea. Your greatest idea, Kamala, voted in Trump. Garland, your paper principles of rule of law stopped prosecuting a fascist, rapist, traitor, insurrectionist and Russian agent. Biden, you fucked Ukraine with your drip feed of weaponry.
3) Every grifter writing Ukraine must and will win because Ukraine must win. Just fuelling complacency and making people feel good, ignoring the real issues. Stop writing if, then and must.
Ukrainians, look to yourselves. It's going to really hurt for a couple of decades. Look, you know this. And we know this, as Poles. Just don't do a civil war or become Nazis. And Bandera isn't the hero you need but Zelensky, flawed as he is and was.
From our book:
By 2023 such claims ring hollow as the world watches powerless to prevent Russia from perpetrating genocide in Ukraine. President Donald Trump represented the ultimate threat from within regarding NATO and western security. p. 246
Putin read both Trump and Biden, out played them, and then ignored Biden prior to unleashing war on Ukraine. p. 247
Always half in-half out, Biden didn’t want Putin’s war but has played the hawk to out-trump Trump. Meanwhile a small nation is struggling with a trickle of weapons, which suits Biden’s America but is a long-term disaster for Europeans. Slowly, very slowly, the truth will out over the reasons for western sluggishness toward the war. On 15 February 2023, Ben Wallace the UK’s Defence Minister, tried to defend the appalling condition of Britain’s armed forces. This has come after a year of thuggish jingoism from the wholly populist Johnson government that abandoned a barely coherent defence policy for a failed doctrine of counterinsurgency (COIN dogma). p. 440

Who could have guessed this would happen (I did in October)
It will happen
